Like all businesses globally we started with an idea. It was Frank’s idea and dream to clean up the photochemical smog which was a major northern hemisphere problem.
Is the jamming together parts of two everyday words – EN – ER – GEN – and as Frank calls it “ENergy REGENeration (EN from energy forwards – RE from regeneration backwards – GEN from regeneration forwards).
Our Story starts with Frank back in the late 1970’s. Frank is a Chemical (petro) Engineer where he learnt it not from a classroom but from working as a cadetship through to being a brilliant chemical engineer by real world experience. Frank was called a “Clean Freak” by his co workers and he wears this label with pride. The reason for bringing up his nickname is this was also a driving force behind the development of ENERGEN. For those that live in the colder parts of the Northern Hemisphere will understand the old “Diesel Boiler Rooms” and the horrid photochemical smog that they produced.
Frank is not 100% sure if it was 1982 or 1983 when he developed the first formulation of ENERGEN with success in reducing the smog from the diesel boiler room. His employer at the time did not like the fact that it also reduced the fuel burn by approx 2%. Frank then left his role there with a non compete restriction of 2 years approx. In this period he had to do other ventures. However he was consistently improving the formulation. Eventually launching ENERGEN in 1985 through a distribution network as Frank was not a salesman.
The first two distributors jumped at the product and they successfully obtained a number diesel boiler rooms from various hospital groups within the United States. As Frank was a novice at his first business venture he allowed it all to be white labeled (under other names) by the distributors appointed. The photo here is the generator testing in 2014 at 90% load 20 minutes in untreated and the right side 50 hours after treatment. the photochemical smog is now to nothing but a heat vapour.
The two initial distributors now were appointing their own sub distributors underneath them and also doing white labelling for them. In the late 1990’s through 2005, they broke into international distribution with Africa, Asia, Australia and the Middle East distributorships being in place. This period saw rapid growth especially inside the USA. Obtaining a US Navy Cage Number, but the biggest factor was with all the new EPA emissions testing requirements for each years vehicle registration renewal. One of two main distributors had a bottling line installed into his facility to cater for Walmart, various Auto stores and online sales. The focus shifted from the industrial clients to the consumer chain.
In 2016 in Australia, Energen under a white labeled name became a finalist in the Bowen Basin Mining Club awards. After many trials which are included here on this website. As well full laboratory testing was done with Bell Laboratories and Coal Services. Further trials were done and during the Covid Lockdowns from 2020 onwards Frank had always wanted to have his intended name ENERGEN on all products. Some of the distribution chain left and those that remain are now full fledged partners with Frank, re-launching under the ENERGEN brand.
We have offices in Australia, Canada and USA . With production facilities in Australia and USA. We have recently partnered with Performance Lubricants Group (Uniglide Range) for joint distribution of each groups products. Performance Lubricants Group (Uniglide Range) have offices in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, PNG, Malaysia, India, UAE, South Africa and are about to open one in Germany. They have production facilities in Australia, India and South Africa.
